17. Wicked!

I won't pretend I know much about theater or Broadway but I have enjoyed the few things I have gotten to see.
Everyone I know who has seen Wicked has absolutely loved it so. We tried to get tickets last year when we were in NYC but the only tickets available started at over $300 a piece so we decided we would try to see it some other time. When we found out the traveling show was coming to the DPAC we decided to get tickets, as Justin's parents have season tickets to the DPAC we were able to get tickets through them back in December and we have been waiting ever since!
I enjoy going to things I don't know much about, so I was happy to go see Wicked without knowing anything about the story line other than it dealt with how the Wicked Witch became Wicked. I am happy to report that I really enjoyed it. It was great how well everything tied together between this part of the story and the Wizard of Oz, but I won't get into specifics for those who haven't yet seen it but plan on seeing it soon.
This was our 3rd trip to the DPAC and we are looking forward to many more trips as we have gotten season tickets for their upcoming season starting in November!

Week 14: Bill Cosby Show/ Jewelry

Back in January when we went to see Rent at the DPAC, we decided to get tickets to see Bill Cosby. So, for Justin's dad's birthday we got 5 tickets to see the show. Last Sunday, Justin's his mom and dad, brother, and I went to show. First, we went to MellowMushroom, which is very close by and always yummy. Then, we went to the DPAC for the show.
I had never been to a comedy show before and I have to say I really enjoy it. Bill Cosby is hilarious. He's stories were mostly about growing up and how boys think girls are icky for most of their childhood and how quickly that changes.
I was a lot of fun and I am really glad we decided to get tickets for the show.

The other thing going on this week, was that Angelique and I have decided to try to start selling some of our jewelry. She came up Thursday and we went to buy a bunch of supplies. There is a little show near her house that sells hand made arts and crafts so we are going to try to sell things there. We don't expect much to come out of it, but the idea of being able to sale stuff we make is pretty cool.

Week 4: Part 2, RENT

After a great long weekend in NYC, we came back without seeing a show. Right after we got back I found out that RENT was going to be here in Durham. I had tried to get tickets to RENT last year while I was in NYC, but that didn't happen. So,having never been to the new Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC), we decided to go check it out.
We knew that Chris (one of the few people from H.S. I keep up with, who we like to hang out with whenever we can) was interested in checking out DPAC as well so we decided to go check it out Saturday. We go there too late for the lottery, which we weren't really expecting we would get. But, we did find out that an hr before the show tickets go on sale for 1/2 price. So we called mellow mushroom to order lunch and waited in line for an hour to buy half price tickets. We ended up getting balcony tickets for $24.50! The seats where pretty good, we could see everything well, and the price was hard to beat.
For the show it self, it was great. I had never seen RENT, I had only seen the movie. I really enjoyed. I am really glad we decided to go see it as there is no telling if the show will ever come back to Durham and unfortunately, it's no longer on Broadway.
While we were there we decided to get tickets for another show that will be coming to the DPAC, so that will be another experience I'll write about in March.
